My story so far | Tanushree.
Foreword by Joseph Radhik
It takes a unique kind of personality to accommodate wanderlust, an organized OCD level control mania, an outwardly-lazy persona that screams owl at first glance, a disciplined hard working character in the office - happy to experiment and yet always reliable when called upon. Well, Tanushree is all of that and that's why she doesn't like labels. Brides have described her as the best bridesmaid they could have had, the groom's friends are always begging her to stay back to party and yet she pulls off the laid-back look like no one else. I can tell you how she was a hair stylist before she became a photographer or how her portraits are always fresh but I'd rather tell you that she's simply one of a kind. Ladies and gentlemen, Tanushree Vaidya.
JJoseph Radhik probably gets thousands of emails asking for an internship. He replies to a much, much fewer number of people. I started with being one of the many people he didn't reply to. So I wrote again. Two years later, here I am, and being a part of Stories by Joseph Radhik is almost entirely my life.
Ours is not the usual office, passion and love for the craft matters more than a good resume here and it's a place where you are encouraged to grow and evolve at your own pace. As someone who studied commerce (not my idea!) and then became a hairstylist (yes yes, I'm awesome to have around when you're getting ready) and then FINALLY found photography, I probably have the background which is least related to this job. But that's never stopped me :)
TThe biggest thing I've learned here in the last two years is that the stunning photos that we see, which look so simple and effortless, are anything but. They come from much nerdiness, many sleepless nights, much globe trotting, lots of camera love, lugging around heavy equipment (very heavy!) just so that you don't miss that one awesome shot, tons of patience, crazy amounts of practice, pushing your own body beyond its limits and packing up with at least one pair of aching limbs, always searching for great light and a beautiful location and the ability to make yourselves a tiny but important part of someone's biggest day! And yet, you come home and realise that all this is simply the tip of the iceberg. There's always more to learn and do.
In the end, it truly seems like my story is just beginning.
