The show must go on. #mondaymoment
IImagine a lovely sangeet at a gorgeous outdoor venue. The fun performances have begun and the friends and family are outdoing each other with their dance moves. The excitement is tangible on their faces. Then imagine it begins to rain.
This actually happened at a wedding in Bali, Indonesia that I was shooting along with the Stories team. When I saw the rain come down, I was worried that the festivities would be called to a halt and that a good evening would turn into a disaster. But the wedding guests had other ideas. They weren't going to let a little rain (a lot!) stop them and they continued dancing. That's when I decided that if they weren't going to stop dancing then I sure wasn't going to stop shooting!
Good things often come out of tough situations and for me this was just the push I needed to get out there and get my shot. Yes, I was worried for my camera, but I also knew capturing the moment was worth the risk. The reward was this photograph - a happy woman, surrounded by raindrops that are frozen in time as she dances with abandon. It's a photograph that will always remain among my favourites from a Sangeet.
